Retail Therapy
The Fens offer a vast array of retail therapy. As well as many of the familiar High Street names, there are a host of smaller family-run department and furniture stores around the region. There are family businesses that have been handed down through the generations, that are thriving in today’s highly competitive markets, as well as new names to the towns and expansion plans for many already established businesses. Westgate House in Spalding has recently doubled its size with replacement, in a matching style of three old units in Bridge Street. Two new units have been built on Swan Walk to replace an existing building, and Marks and Spencer have opened a food hall at the corner of Swan Street in Spalding. Oldrids of Boston have also recently carried out extensive refurbishment works, including a new coffee shop, as well as extensive restaurant facilities. Wisbech’s Horsefair Shopping Centre offers a good range of high street names and is conveniently located for bus passengers. |
